home decor: emily blaiss' studio apartment in atlanta

hey friends!
remember my friend, emily blaiss?
you may remember her as the girl i just visited in atlanta...
or as the girl who gave us the rundown on atlanta fashion.
today, she is sharing her decor style.
having seen this gem of an apartment first-hand,
i knew it was definitely worth sharing with the world.
i really love emily's flair for the classic, simple, and minimal.
[just don't go look at her shoe closet...]

Do you live in a house, apartment, or condo?
I live in a one-bedroom studio apartment in HOT-lanta.

Describe your home decor taste.
While I like to think I have an eclectic style, I really don't.  My home decor tends to be more contemporary with crisp lines and muted colors (gray, silver, white, etc.)  In other words, my home decor resembles pretty much everything on Pinterest right now.  Original, huh?

If you had to pick three stores or catalogues to exclusively use for home furnishing or decor, what would they be?
Anthropologie, West Elm, and Ballard Designs.  Z Gallerie would have made the list had it not taken 12 weeks for my couches to come in.  Shout out to Z Gallerie customer service!

What advice would you give someone  trying to make the most of his or her dining space?
Don't buy a farm table that is unsealed.  No, really, don't do it.  All joking aside, though, I am a big proponent of buying something that you can use over time and in different places, as opposed to buying furniture that will only work for the dining room in this one house, apartment, or whatever.  Get something with multiple uses.  Buy a kitchen table that if you get bored with it, can go in the dining room, and visa versa.  More functionality saves you money in the long run when you get sick of your furniture, and, let's be honest, if you are a girl, you will inevitably want to mix it up.

What are you planning for your next home decor purchase?
A rug for the living room and a set of glass nesting tables with a gold border.  I know that sounds like it wouldn't fit in with all of the grey/silver in the apartment, but I want to mix it up a bit and think gold would be the perfect touch.

What has been the biggest challenge or frustration?
If you know me, then you know that undoubtedly my biggest frustration is not having everything finished 1, 2, 3.  I love home design and selecting all the new pieces has been fun, but I am just ready for my space to be fully decorated and feel "homey."  Having a futon as my couch/only piece of furniture for the first 12 weeks of living in my new apartment certainly didn't help things.

What's your favorite piece in your place and why?
My absolute FAVORITE purchase ever were my mirrors above my bed from Crate and Barrel.  I had my eye on them for a really long time before I purchased and finally treated myself to them while I was working in Houston a few summers ago.  The whole apartment has really evolved around the mirrors.
