September + October Social Calendar

It's September 1st - Labor Day 2014. Not only is it a new month (which I love), it represents that homestretch into Fall. It's when the purists retire their white (good thing I'm no purist). What it also represents is a slam into a heavy social calendar. I could take this blog on a lot of adventures between now and Christmas. Come along with me, won't you?

September
  • September 6-7: Germantown Festival. I have been going to this festival for a little over a decade. Whether I come home with crafts and trinkets or not, I enjoy taking my dog to old Germantown and walking around to take in the atmosphere. It's usually still extremely warm, but Fall fanfare is on display all around. I will happily be attending and blogging this year as well.
  • September 7: You Me & Apollo at Newby's. Lucas introduces me to all kinds of great music, which is awesome. I love that lending my support also means exposure to new tunes. Join us!
  • September 12: Jason Isbell & Cory Branan at The Lyric Oxford (in Oxford, of course). As a teenager, I listened to Cory Branan. My cousin and Lucas both exposed me to Jason Isbell a little while back, and I am beyond stoked to see them together in a cool town like Oxford.
  • September 13: Cooper Young Festival. I do a good bit of shopping here. There are always unique art vendors and fun crafts. In case I don't get my fill of Cory in Oxford, he is headlining the festival as well. I am also eager to see James and the Ultrasounds, one of Madjack Records' newest additions. I am praying to see temperatures in the 70s by then.
  • September 20: Memphis v. MTSU at the Liberty Bowl. At least once a season I like to tailgate a Memphis game. This year, they've unveiled a concert series at the home games. Looks like I will be catching Pat Green...
  • September 27: Memphis v. Ole Miss (@ the Grove). I haven't been tailgating in Oxford in years. While I will be rooting for the underdog Tigers, I am always eager to see college fashion on display. That might be a bigger draw for me than the football...well, and the food...
October

  • October 4: JDRF Walk for Diabetes. I don't talk about it too much anymore, but I still hold the title of "Diabetic", and while it hasn't caused me too much grief in the past two years, I still very much hope for a cure for myself and those who suffer its complications far worse than I. At best, it's an inconvenience. At worst, it can be a life or death battle for kids and adults alike. Join us at Shelby Farms to raise funds and awareness for Type 1 Diabetes.
  • October 14: Pearl Jam @ the Fed Ex Forum. Having older brothers and a mom who loves Pearl Jam, I grew up to songs like "Jeremy" and "Better Man". I developed an affection for the band all my own, and I am very excited my mom got tickets! I will be nowhere near the biggest fan there (or even the biggest fan in my group), but I will be glad to cross this off my list of bands to see in concert.
  • October 25: Jason Isbell @ Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. Lucas and I will be headed for a fun-filled Saturday in Nashville, ending with Jason Isbell at the Ryman. I am not sure anything will beat seeing Mumford & Sons there two years ago, but I have a great feeling this will be a really good time.
These are just the scheduled events. It does not include Fall trips to the Farmer's Market and buying mums at a pumpkin patch. It doesn't include pumpkin spice lattes on the stove and burning chai candles. It doesn't include the wedding festivities of friends and time spent with family. It doesn't include my renewed relationship with Pure Barre and running, and the adventures of cooking in the crockpot. Oh yeah, and MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES...

I'm excited. Can you tell?

Two things to leave with you:
  • Thankfulness of a boyfriend who can cook

XoXo.
