Eila: 1 Month Update

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone! Our beloved Eila turns 1 month old today! I'm not going to lie to you, folks, that month was a big blur! Let me tell you what little Eila Bird is up to at month numero uno.

Eila Christine Peterson: 1 Month

  • Weight: 6 lbs 2.5 oz (half an ounce above birth weight)
  • Size: Newborn diapers and newborn clothes
  • Sleeps: A lot. Most of the time, at night, she sleeps until it is time to eat again. Rarely, she wakes up and starts cooing, grunting, squeaking and crying. That is usually around food time. She sleeps best after a bottle (duh) and on car rides in her carseat.
  • Fun places she's been: Baer's Den, Cotton Tails, Booksellers of Laurelwood, Gus' Fried Chicken, McAlister's Deli, Blue Plate Cafe, Swanky's Taco Shop, and the pediatrician's office.
  • Visitors: All of her grandparents, Great Grandma, Uncle Wes, Aunt Kelsey, Morgan, Jenny, Catherine, LD, Colleen, Will, Eli, Monica, Alex, Aunt Lauran, Uncle Pat, Deshawna, Kelly, Darin, Sarah, Mike, Erika, Drew, Bonnie (I hope we aren't missing anyone - mom brain!)
  • Things we use the most: Halo Bassinest, Boppy Lounger, Momaroo, Swing, Pampers, Honest bath products, Soothie pacifiers, Similac pre-made 2 oz bottles, Nuna Carseat and Stroller and Keekaroo Peanut changing pad.
  • Loves: Sleeping, eating, passing gas (not very ladylike), looking at the fan, watching the Grizzlies, car rides, moving my head from side to side, and sharing my lounger with the dog.
  • Dislikes: Taking baths, changing clothes, cold wipes and being hungry.

Eila,

You came into our lives by storm, little lady! You toughed it out in the NICU like a champion with tubes in your nose and needle pricks on your feet. You are a very adjusted baby as a result of that experience. You're not afraid of independence like hanging out in your lounger or bassinet without constant attention, but you also love being held and will sleep on anyone if you're tired enough. You're an excellent sleeper and love your bottles. You humor me when I experiment with outfits (and sometimes you throw a fit). Some people say you look like me. Others think you look like your dad. I think it's fair to say that you are a good blend of us and will continue to change every single day. My biggest adjustments have been the changes in sleep patterns and letting go of breastfeeding. Rest assured that you are very loved by so many around you. We will continue to provide you with a calm and relaxing home life as well as slowly integrate you into our adventures in the world. We love you to the moon and back!

XoXo,
Mom
