Eila: 2 Month Update

I guess she's just going to keep growing, huh?

Eila Christine Peterson: 2 Months

  • Weight: Unsure. Her appointment is next Monday, so I will be able to tell you then. She has definitely grown!
  • Size: Newborn diapers and newborn clothes. Some newborn clothes are getting tight on her upper body.
  • Sleeps: Well!  At night, she sleeps until it is time to eat again. She takes naps during the day of course. She also sleeps extremely well on long road trips which is heartening because we are driving to Florida in June. She has transitioned well to the crib for the most part!
  • Eats: 3 oz bottles of Similac Sensitive Formula (been way happier after switching to that) every 3 hours. After her 11:00P feeding, I have stopped setting an alarm. Meaning, I feed her when she wakes up. If she doesn't, I let her sleep. She can sleep up to 5 hours.
  • Fun places she's been: Arkansas, Illinois, Indigo, Target (just us two!), eating lunch with dad, SuSu's house downtown, the Memphis Farmer's Market, Memphis Pizza name it! She's officially part of our outings and I have loved that the most about this month.
  • Visitors: Tanya and a lot of folks who visited last month.

How you have changed these past four weeks! You are way more alert when you are awake these days, and now you look right at people when they are holding you. We can get you to smile and make faces when we touch your nose or kiss your cheeks. It doesn't always work, but we have definitely seen more reactions out of you. You are doing way more with your hands such as holding my finger when you eat and pulling my hair when I pick you up. You were able to visit a lot of relatives this month, little girl. We loved having you visit Mam and Pap in Arkansas. One day you are going to understand just how much that visit meant to me. You also just visited a lot of your relatives in Illinois. You were so well behaved, and I cannot wait for you to get to play with your Peterson cousins when you're a bit older. You were able to meet your Great Grandma Peterson, and that was such a treasured experience. She was able to love on you for a while, and I know that did a world of good for all involved. You and I have also caught our groove during the day. I know when to expect you to be happy or sleepy. On the flip side, I know that it is anybody's guess what your mood will be after 4:00P. Your dad and I are having so much fun watching you grow and change out of this vulnerable little premie we brought home to a strong-willed infant. It may feel like we were trying to rush you along at times, but we will never forget that sweet little newborn we brought home. You scared us to death, Eila. But I have learned that love and fear are often one-in-the-same and they created a term for it called "parenthood." We love you, angel.
